Mom's Callings
Mom, Mark, Amy, and I sat around the table today and chit chatted about her life.
She was telling us of when Brent was a baby and she traveled all across the state to set up the library programs for every ward building in the region.
She also said that she held more stake callings than ward callings.
Her first calling after being married was the Stake Sunday School Secretary. In the old Broadway ward, Mom taught the converts once a week on basic gospel principles.
Emily made a sticker page for Grandma J from all of Grandma's old stickers. It has a sticker that had the theme "Faith in every footstep" - Mom said that she did lots of fun things with the theme because she was the Stake RS President. Emily put a picture of ice cream - she loves ice cream (especially Blue Bell). She had a sticker of the state of Texas, flowers, Salt Lake Temple (which is where she got married and her mission). There was also a picture of bees and a beehive.
Mom used to type 110 wpm on the typewriter.
She said that she was never a VT coordinator - but she was the RS president which kind of goes hand in hand with the coordinator.
She played the organ, lead the music, taught the 16 year olds, taught the 10 year olds in Primary, the Stake Blazer leader, the Cub Scout Den Leader for six years, the scout committee chairman for 12 years, taught seminary, taught gospel doctrine, Humanitarian Director and did large projects that included the Regional Chicago Humanitarian project called Baskets for Learning, temple ordinanace worker and supervisor over 50 women on Saturday mornings at the Chicago temple.

Celia and Mom did primary music together for two years. Mom said that she lead and Celia played one year and then they switched places - she said that was so fun!

AND, she sang in the choir! She has a lovely voice! I return the compliment you paid me once, Ruth Ann. It is wonderful to sit next to and sing out with Ruth Ann. love, Uncle Wayne

I always knew you were a chip off the old block. Your mom was such a go getter. It sounds like your children are as sharp as you too. Stay the course and know I love and pray for you! Shauna
